Nuziveedu Seeds Champions Sustainable Agriculture at CEASI’s Direct Seeded Rice Workshop
Nuziveedu Seeds, a leading Indian seed company renowned for its farmer-centric approach, has taken a significant step towards promoting sustainable agriculture by actively participating in the Centre of Excellence for Agriculture Skills in India (CEASI) stakeholder workshop on Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) in Karnal, Haryana.
Dr. Suresh Gehlawat, Haryana Additional Director of Agriculture (Retd) and an expert on sustainable agriculture, presented fascinating data on the environmental impact of DSR. “If 1 lakh hectare is cultivated using DSR, it can reduce methane emissions equivalent to 35 lakh tonnes of CO2, which is equivalent to planting 16 crore trees.” Additionally Dr. Ankur Chaudhary,Scientist Agronomy RRS, HAU, Karnal emphasized the importance of timely herbicide application based on local weed flora for optimal results in DSR cultivation.
This workshop attended by agriculture experts and industry leaders underscored the environmental and economic benefits of adopting DSR practices in the rice-wheat cropping system. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Nuziveedu Seeds played a crucial role in the event reflecting its unwavering commitment to advancing sustainable agricultural practices.
