Empowering Sustainable Agriculture: PUSA Amrit Sarovar

A Rain Water Harvesting Pond developed in an area of one-hectare which will be utilized for irrigation of 100 Hectare upto three times.

A water harvesting pond (PUSA Amrit Sarovar) is being developed in an area of one-hectare area after proper topographic survey of IARI. The depth of water harvesting pond is 6m with steps of 2 m each. Runoff water generated from an area of 100 ha (cultivated) and 80 ha of built-up area is collected through collector drain in Pusa Amrit Sarovar with an approximate storage capacity of 50,000 cum. Water stored in the pond could be utilized for irrigation of 100 ha thrice. The plastic film (500 micron) lining of Amrit Sarovar along with a solar energy run pumpset (10 hp) and approach channel lining has been installed using CSR funds from M/S Nuziveedu Seeds Limited.
Pusa Amrit Sarovar was inaugurated by Dr Himanshu Pathak, Secretary DARE and DG, ICAR on April 4, 2024 at 9:00 AM.
